Welcome to our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section!

Here, we have compiled a list of the questions I get asked so often, I considered making a drinking game out of them. But then I realized that might not be the safest idea when it comes to henna. So, I decided to provide detailed answers to help you better understand my process and what to expect during your henna appointment.

Q: What is henna and how does it work?

A: Henna is a plant-based dye made from the leaves of the henna plant. It works by staining the top layers of skin with a reddish-brown color that gradually fades over time.

Q: How long does henna last?

A: The duration of the henna stain depends on a variety of factors, including the quality of the henna, where it is applied on the body, and how well it is cared for after the application. Typically, henna stains last for 7-10 days.

Q: Is henna safe for everyone to use?

A: While henna is generally considered safe, it is possible for some people to have an allergic reaction to it. It is recommended that you do a patch test before getting a full henna design done, especially if you have sensitive skin.

Q: Can I choose my own henna design?

A: Yes, of course! We have a portfolio of designs that you can choose from, but we also welcome any custom designs that you may have in mind. Just let me know what you’re looking for and I’ll do my best to bring your vision to life.

Q: How do I care for my henna design?

A: Aftercare for henna is an important step to ensure that your design lasts as long as possible and looks its best. Here are some tips to follow:

  • Leave the paste on for at least 2-4 hours: The longer you leave the paste on, the darker and longer-lasting the design will be.
  • Avoid water for the first 24 hours: Water can cause the henna to fade faster, so it’s best to avoid washing the area for the first 24 hours.
  • Scrape off the paste: After the paste has dried, gently scrape it off using a plastic spoon or a credit card. Do not wash the area with water.
  • Keep the area moisturized: Apply a natural oil, such as coconut oil or olive oil, to the design to keep the skin moisturized and prevent cracking.
  • Avoid harsh chemicals: Avoid swimming pools, saunas, and harsh chemicals as they can cause the henna to fade faster.
  • Protect the design: Avoid rubbing or scratching the design, and try to avoid wearing tight clothing over the area.

By following these aftercare tips, you can ensure that your henna design looks its best and lasts as long as possible.

Q: Can I get henna if I have a fear of commitment?

A: Of course! Henna is a temporary art form, so you can enjoy the beauty of the design without any long-term commitment. Plus, it’s a great way to test out different designs before getting a permanent tattoo, just like trying on shoes before buying them!

Q: What is Jagua?

A: Jagua is a natural dye derived from the unripe fruit of the Genipa Americana tree, native to South America.

Q: How is Jagua used?

A: Jagua is used in a similar way to henna, as a temporary body art. The dye is applied to the skin and left to dry for several hours, then washed off to reveal a dark blue-black stain that lasts for up to two weeks.

Q: Is Jagua safe to use?

A: Yes, Jagua is generally considered safe for use on the skin. However, it’s important to use Jagua from a reputable source and follow proper application instructions to avoid any adverse reactions.

Q: Is Jagua permanent?

A: No, Jagua is a temporary dye and will eventually fade over time.

Q: How do I take care of my Jagua design?

A: To ensure your Jagua design lasts as long as possible, avoid washing the area for at least 24 hours after application, and avoid using harsh soaps or scrubs. Apply a small amount of coconut oil or similar moisturizer to the design to help it stay hydrated and vibrant.

Q: Can Jagua be used on sensitive skin?

A: While Jagua is generally safe for use on the skin, it’s important to patch-test the dye on a small area of skin before applying it to a larger area. If you have particularly sensitive skin, it’s best to consult with a dermatologist before using Jagua.

Q: How long does Jagua take to dry?

A: Jagua typically takes 30 minutes to dry, depending on the size and complexity of the design. After it’s dry, the excess dye can be washed off with warm water.

Q: Can Jagua be used for tattoos?

A: No, Jagua is not suitable for permanent tattoos as it does not penetrate the skin as deeply as traditional tattoo ink. It’s intended for temporary body art only.

Q: Can I apply Jagua while doing a handstand?

A: Technically, you can, but we highly recommend against it. It might get messy and we wouldn’t want you to end up with a Jagua tattoo on your eye. Safety first, folks!
